This week we visited Dan Dainton from Dainton Family... he's unsure. But it's a brewery and brewpub in Carrum Downs (Melbourne). We spoke to Dan way back when he was starting out as a contract brewer and now he told us how is brand has changed and matured. We learned all about the troubles that growth brings, and how Dan has dealt with them.

This week we speak to Steve Jeffares, all about the GABS Hottest 100 beer poll. The annual poll gets increasing amount of attention and criticism and in our chat we cover everything. Things such as having too many pale ales at the top, beers no one has ever tried landing in the list, and the "Change the Date" campaign are all discussed.. In addition, Steve updated us about Stomping Ground as well as their support of Midsumma festival and their mentoring program for LGBTQIA+ artists. It's a rollercoaster of a show!

We venture into the heart of class-war torn Footscray to speak to Hop Nation. A couple of Kiwi wine makers have become firm podcast favourites and we learn how that happened. We also complain about the heat, talk cricket, and some other stuff. You know how this works by now.
Their website is here. Social links here, here and here.

This is our annual awards show. With four awards up for offer we share our Beer Of The Year, Most Improved Brewery, Brewery To Watch In 2017, and 2016 Brewery Of The Year. Also, Luke offers put on some vinyl next time Dave is over; and Dave really outs his lack of hip hop knowledge... something he has never claimed to have, but still. Also, a fluffy dog runs past.

Today there was no Dave, so instead we asked Tom Delmont from Fixation and Will Ziebell (Froth Magazine and Crafty Pint) to join the show. Tom told us all about Fixation, fresh IPAs and we talked punk rock, plans for a Fixation brewpub, as well as getting some tips on how to be a beer rep. Then Will told us tales of history. We learned about Melbourne buildings and breweries, the Rum Rebellion, and the Emu Wars. What a bloody show.

This week we were invited along for a tour with Scott from Aussie Brewery Tours. Visiting a couple of breweries and a cidery, we got out of the city for a look around the Yarra Valley. Scott talks us through the history of Aussie Brewery Tours, as well as what it's like running a tourism business in the beer industry. We also chat to a guest of the tour and get his take on gose, blueberry wine and cider.

This episode features journalist and author Stan Hieronymus. In Australia for the Australian National Homebrew Conference, we took the chance to chat to him about beer trends, homebrew and his most recent book Brewing Local. Given the breadth of his knowledge, we only just scratched the surface, but fortunately he has four books worth for you to check out.

This week we start at Hop Nation in Footscray, before throwing to White Rabbit in Geelong. We sit and talk all things White Rabbit with the head brewer Jeremy Halse. Since moving from Healesville, they have expanded their barrel aged program and Jeremy tells us about the direction he would like it to go. We learn about life under Lion ownership, life in Geelong, and get some insight into their range and history. Other than that, we talk some absolute garbage about toast, crowd surfing and television. All in all, a great episode.

We are hanging out at Stomping Ground this week and chatting to head brewer Ashur Hall, and co-founder Guy Greenstone. Many Australian listeners would know Guy as half of the team behind the Local Taphouse and GABS festivals. We get to the bottom of why a brewpub, why the name, and what the team have planned for the future. No show notes for this one, as it's all Stomping Ground.
