We are live on tape at GABS 2017. The audio is all over the place but the guests are tight. It features Dave from Aether Brewing, Kirrily Waldhorn, Richard from Bentspoke, Stirling from Balter, and Steph from Craft Beer College. What a jam packed extravaganza!
We sit down with Topher from Wildflower Beer. The new brewing/blending project set social media alight when it launched last month and bottles flew off shelves. Topher is passionate about making good beer his own way. We learn all about his fermentation, wild yeasts and ethos.
3 years, almost to the day, we chat with Moon Dog cofounder, Josh Uljans about their recent expansion and the brand as a whole. Josh is honest and open about the business and their brand. Also, Dave and I crap on a bit about other stuff. Does anyone even read these?
Special extra episode this week, featuring Brendan O'Sullivan from 3 Ravens. We drink some crazy barrel aged beer, a Juicy IPA and lager from a tin. All in all, everything Luke and Dave want from life. Also we geek out pretty hard about bugs, barrels and RTDs...
It's a special episode! We asked a panel of New Zealand drinkers and industry types to unpack GABS New Zealand Hottest 100. The first time the list has been announced in NZ, and the first time we've handed over the reins completely. No Dave, no Luke... instead we have Megan Whelan (RNZ Community Engagement Editor), Llew Bardecki (Wild and Woolly), Steph Coutts (Craft Beer College), Dylan Jauslin (The Bottleneck). What a lineup! Hear them talk all about GABS H100 and NZ beer.
This week we visited Dan Dainton from Dainton Family... he's unsure. But it's a brewery and brewpub in Carrum Downs (Melbourne). We spoke to Dan way back when he was starting out as a contract brewer and now he told us how is brand has changed and matured. We learned all about the troubles that growth brings, and how Dan has dealt with them.
This week we speak to Steve Jeffares, all about the GABS Hottest 100 beer poll. The annual poll gets increasing amount of attention and criticism and in our chat we cover everything. Things such as having too many pale ales at the top, beers no one has ever tried landing in the list, and the "Change the Date" campaign are all discussed.. In addition, Steve updated us about Stomping Ground as well as their support of Midsumma festival and their mentoring program for LGBTQIA+ artists. It's a rollercoaster of a show!
